The Backyard Discovery Sarasota 12 x 10 is a freestanding steel pergola designed to create a larger, adjustable-shade patio area for dining, lounging, and everyday outdoor living. Its black powder-coated galvanized-steel frame and manually operated louvered roof let you open the space to sunlight and airflow or close the louvers for greater shade and rain protection.

Adjustable Shade & Drainage
The adjustable roof gives you direct control over light and shade throughout the day. The included manual wand rotates the louvers open for sunlight and ventilation or closed for stronger shade and weather protection. When the louvers are closed, built-in gutters route rainwater toward integrated downspouts in the posts, while gutter guards help reduce debris entering the drainage channels.
Steel Construction & Weather Performance
The frame is manufactured from powder-coated galvanized steel for structural strength and improved resistance to rust and corrosion. Backyard Discovery’s Pro-Tect™ testing rates this model for winds up to 100 mph and a snow load up to 2,100 pounds when the pergola is assembled and anchored according to the current manufacturer instructions.
Heavy-duty galvanized-steel anchoring plates help secure the freestanding structure. The included PowerPort™ provides three standard electrical outlets and three USB ports for compatible lighting, speakers, charging, and other outdoor accessories when connected to an external power source. The external power source is not included.
Assembly & Site Planning
Components arrive pre-fabricated and pre-drilled, with guided assembly support available through the BILT® app. Install the structure on a suitable level surface and follow the current manufacturer manual for anchoring, drainage clearance, required setbacks, and site preparation.
