Freight & Delivery

Freight Shipping Policy

Everything you need to know about delivery for large and oversized products.

Last Updated: September 2026

Some products sold by True Yard Buildings are large or heavy, including certain pergolas, greenhouses, sheds, swing sets, play structures, patio structures, outdoor kitchens, and related outdoor products. These items may require freight delivery instead of standard parcel shipping.

1. What Is Freight Shipping?

Freight shipping is used for large or heavy products that cannot be transported through a standard parcel service. An LTL or other freight carrier transports the packaged product to the delivery address and may schedule a delivery appointment before arrival.

2. Which Products Require Freight Shipping?

  • Pergolas, gazebos, and large patio structures
  • Greenhouses, sheds, saunas, and outdoor kitchens
  • Large swing sets and play structures
  • Other products that exceed standard parcel size or weight limits

If an item requires freight shipping, that shipping method may be indicated on the product listing, order confirmation, or delivery communication.

3. Is Freight Shipping Free?

Yes. Eligible freight products include free standard curbside freight delivery, with no minimum purchase, to eligible addresses within the contiguous United States, including the District of Columbia. We do not currently deliver freight orders to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes, freight forwarders, or international destinations.

4. How Long Does Freight Delivery Take?

Processing Time1–2 Business DaysMonday–Friday, excluding public holidays
Freight Transit7–14 Business DaysAfter processing

Freight orders are normally processed within 1–2 business days. After processing, freight delivery usually takes 7–14 business days. Delivery estimates may vary because of carrier scheduling, weather, access restrictions, regional availability, product availability, or the delivery location.

5. How Freight Delivery Works

  1. Once your order ships, tracking information is sent by email when available.
  2. The freight carrier may contact you by phone, text, or email to schedule a delivery appointment.
  3. Someone 18 years or older should be present at the delivery address during the scheduled window.
  4. The driver provides curbside or end-of-driveway delivery, not delivery inside a home, garage, backyard, deck, or installation area.
  5. Inspect the shipment carefully before signing the delivery receipt whenever possible.

6. Delivery Access Requirements

  • Make sure the road, gate, and driveway can safely accommodate a large freight vehicle.
  • Consider low branches, overhead wires, narrow roads, steep grades, soft surfaces, and tight turns.
  • Plan in advance how the product will be moved from the curbside unload point to its final location.

The final unload point may be determined by the driver based on safety, access, equipment, and carrier rules.

7. What Curbside Delivery Does Not Include

Standard freight service does not include moving products into a home, garage, backyard, deck, installation area, or other interior location. It also does not include unpacking, debris removal, assembly, or installation unless a separate service has been specifically confirmed.

8. What Should I Do When My Freight Order Arrives?

  • Inspect the packaging and shipment for visible damage.
  • If damage is visible, note it on the delivery receipt before signing when possible.
  • Take clear photos of the product, packaging, labels, and pallets.
  • Email support@trueyardbuildings.com with your order number and photos.

If visible damage is not documented at delivery, it can be more difficult to establish a carrier claim, so please inspect the shipment carefully before signing whenever possible.

9. What If My Freight Order Arrives Damaged?

Contact us promptly at support@trueyardbuildings.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos. Do not attempt to assemble a product that appears materially damaged. Depending on the situation, we may arrange replacement parts, a replacement product, a freight claim, or an approved return or refund at no additional cost when covered by our policies.

10. Can I Return a Freight Item?

Yes. We accept approved returns of eligible defective and non-defective freight products within 90 calendar days of delivery, subject to our published return conditions.

  • Authorized freight return shipping is coordinated and covered by True Yard Buildings.
  • Approved change-of-mind returns are eligible under the same published return policy conditions.
  • We do not charge a restocking fee on approved returns.
  • Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method according to the timelines in our Refund & Returns Policy.

Do not arrange your own freight carrier or send a freight return without approval. Review our Refund & Returns Policy for full eligibility and refund details.

11. Can I Track My Freight Order?

Yes. Once your order has shipped, tracking information is sent by email when available. Please allow up to 48 hours after the shipment notification for tracking activity to appear. If tracking has not updated after 48 hours, contact support@trueyardbuildings.com with your name and order number.

12. What If Nobody Is Home During Delivery?

Because many freight deliveries require an adult to be present, please be available during the scheduled delivery window. A carrier may charge a redelivery or storage fee after a missed appointment. Contact the carrier first to reschedule and then contact True Yard Buildings if you need additional assistance.

13. Missed or Refused Delivery

Do not refuse a shipment solely because of minor exterior packaging damage unless the product is clearly unusable, materially incorrect, or the carrier or True Yard Buildings instructs you to refuse it. Repeated missed appointments or unapproved refusals may create carrier charges outside standard free freight service.

14. Delays After Shipment

A carrier delay after shipment does not reduce your rights under our 90-day return policy. If tracking is delayed or an appointment changes, contact our support team and we will help review the shipment status with the carrier.

15. Installation & Freight Delivery

When free installation is confirmed for an eligible order, installation may occur on a different date from freight delivery. The delivered product should remain reasonably protected and accessible until installation.

16. Do We Ship Freight Internationally?

No. We currently provide freight delivery only to eligible addresses within the contiguous United States, including the District of Columbia. We do not ship freight orders internationally or to Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. territories, P.O. boxes, or freight forwarders.
